Young Professionals Network: North Druid Hills GDOT Project Site Tour

ACEC Georgia's Young Professionals Network (YPN) is the premier community for emerging leaders in the engineering industry.  Designed for professionals aged 35 and younger, YPN offers growth, networking, and career advancement opportunities. Our mission is to empower young engineers helping them build lasting relationships, gain essential skills, and contribute meaningfully to the profession.

Each quarter, YPN strives to engage its members with ongoing projects in the surrounding Atlanta area. Recently, the design, development, and construction of the new Arthur Blank CHOA Hospital received multiple ACEC Georgia engineering awards. In collaboration with GDOT, we aim to highlight the ongoing efforts behind this achievement by offering young engineers and professionals a closer look at GDOT's North Druid Hills (NDH) project. This visit will showcase the coordination required to meet stakeholder milestones and the implementation of a newly designed Displaced Left Turn Interchange (DLTI) for the westbound to southbound movement. Additionally, participants will observe the ongoing construction of the braided ramp connecting the I-85 NB Off-Ramp to the I-85 NB Access Road.

This site tour visit will begin with a project debriefing, followed by a guided walk-through of portions of the NDH project site to gain firsthand insight into the construction operations and coordination efforts. To support professional development, ACEC Georgia will offer two Professional Development Hours (PDH) for this event. The goal is to engage young engineers while highlighting key successes and lessons learned from the project.

Attendees will be required to bring their own safety vests, hard hats, and wear closed-toed shoes.
